UAAC Conference, Toronto , November 6th- 8th 2008

I will make a presentation at the Universities Art Association of Canada Conference at Toronto at a panel brought together by Marc Leger and myself, titled “Creative Labour and Creative Industries”. The session will take place on Friday November 7th at 1:30 pm, at University of Toronto Art Centre, University College, 15 King’s College Circle.

My presentation will be a part of my dissertation research, tentatively titled as “Creative Industries: Neo-Liberalism as Mass Deception”. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend to the conference physically (since I am still here in the parallel universe of Cairo), but I will be participating online through video conferencing. The other panelists and presentations in the panel will include Yahya Madra from Gettysburg College – “Critical Art Practices in the Society of Spectacle: Venice and Istanbul”, Kirsty Robertson from University of Western Ontario – “Changing Climates: Lumbering Through the Creative Industries”, and Erin Morton from Queen’s University – “From Identity to Difference: ‘Brandscaping’ Atlantic Canada in Global Culture Industry”

We’re hoping to have a nice discussion in this panel session, please come by if you’ll be around Toronto this week. :)
